If you are not a verified bidder, you will have the following restrictions on your account:
- The combined bids on all active auctions (including proxy bids) cannot exceed $2,500.
- Only 10 backorders can be placed per day.
Typically domains that have over 30 backorders have an average sale price of over $2,500. If you are attempting to win a domain, and the bidding reaches this level, you will not be able to increase your bid unless you are a Verified Bidder. A Verified Bidder has no restrictions on how much they can bid on an auction, and a Verified Bidder can backorder up to $10,000 per domain name. This restriction is removed once the auction begins.
If you have 5 backorders at $70 each ($350), and 5 bids in active auctions at $100 each ($500), you will only be able to increase your bids in the active auctions, collectively, by $1,650. If you attempt to exceed this, you will receive the error: "Bids over $2,500 are allowed for verified accounts only."
If a name were scheduled to transition from backordered to auction status, but doing so would exceed the $2,500 collective total, the domain would NOT be added to your list of auctions and you would not be able to participate in that auction.
It's free to download the Verified Bidder form and request that your account be evaluated. Log into your account, click My Account then click the Become a Verified Bidder link to download the form.
